Abstract
The present clinical study was conducted on eight cow calves aged 2-10 days presented with the history of bilateral knuckling at fetlock in forelimbs in two calves, bilateral knuckling at fetlock in hindlimbs in three calves, knuckling at the fetlock joint of all limbs in one calf, bilateral knuckling of carpal joint in one calf and unilateral knuckling of carpal joint in one calf. Tenotomy under local anaesthesia was performed in all calves and applied fibreglass cast with bamboo splint support, along with parenteral antibiotics and analgesics for one week. All calves recovered within 60 days except one with bilateral carpal flexion. Hence, it is concluded that not only the knuckling at the fetlock joint but also unilateral carpal flexion can be treated successfully with tenotomy and application of fibreglass cast.
