Abstract
The present study was conducted in Alwar and Bikaner districts of Rajasthan. A multistage sampling technique was employed for the study. Respondents were collected from 12 villages of 6 blocks of both the districts. A total of 120 households (120 male and 120 female) were selected from these villages. The information was collected by conducting personal interviews of the respondents with the help of semi structured interview schedule. The results revealed that the participation of female respondents in various feeding practices viz. mixing and provide feed to the animals, providing water to the animals, grazing, chaffing and transportation of fodder was higher as compared to male respondents. But the participation of male respondents in various breeding practices viz. taking animals for AI, taking animals for natural services, observation of animals during heat and taking animals for pregnancy diagnosis was higher as compared to female respondents. The study showed that participation of female respondents in various health care practices viz. care of new born calves, care of sick animals and care of pregnant animals was higher as compared male respondents. But regarding taking the animals for vaccination, taking the animals for treatment and giving medicines to animals participation was lower in female respondents. Regarding various management practices viz. cleaning of sheds, milking of animals, processing of milk and milk products, and collection of dung participation of female respondents was higher as compared to male respondents in both the districts. But regarding bathing/grooming of animals, record keeping and marketing activities participation of female respondents was lower in both the districts.
