Abstract
The overall least square means of birth weight of female calves (kg), age at sexual maturity (d), age at first conception (d), services per conception for first pregnancy, gestation period (d), age at first calving (d), services per conception for second pregnancy, first service period (d), were found to be 26.53±0.24, 646.42±7.77, 686.54±10.40, 1.81±0.08, 287.81±0.72, 972.53±10.43 1.60±0.13 and 132.11±9.37, respectively. Season of birth had a significant effect on the birth weight of female calves. However, location, age at sexual maturity and year of birth had non- significant effect. Season of birth and year of birth had a significant effect on age at sexual maturity. Age at first conception and age at first calving were significantly influenced by season of birth, year of birth and age at sexual maturity. Season of birth, year of birth, location and age at sexual maturity had a non-significant effect on gestation period and services per conception for second pregnancy. Year of birth had a significant effect on the first service period whereas, season of birth, location and age at sexual maturity influenced non-significantly. Year of birth and location had a significant effect on services per conception for the first pregnancy. Heritability estimates of birth weight, age at sexual maturity, services per conception, age at first conception, gestation period, age at first calving and first service period, were 0.05±0.06, 0.15±0.08, 0.020±0.009, 0.23±0.11, 0.019±0.04, 0.22±0.11 and 0.054±0.16, respectively.
